The Ouachita Challenge!

Now starting our second decade of presenting the Ouachita Challenge. This unique event provides two days of mountain bike riding and racing on two of our best trails in the Ouachita mountains, making for a loop ride of over 60 miles. The Ouachita Trail is known for it’s challenging climbs, vast technical sections and scenic views of the Ouachita River. The Womble Trail is known for it’s fast trails and scenic views of the Ouachita Mountains and valleys.
With out many great sponsors as well as the support from our many volunteer groups, we make every effort to assure that your Ouachita Challenge Mountain Bike Adventure is a memorable and enjoyable experience.
The only thing more challenging than this event, is the challenge of just trying to make registration. Each year the events allowed number of spaces fills up ever so rapidly. To those that are to late on registering, there is usually a waiting list, incase someone drops out prior to the event.

Another Great Year!!!
We would also like to give a special shout out to all of our volunteer groups who help us at the event. We hear a lot of people asking “who are those awesome volunteers out there?”
This year we received special help from FoOT (Friends of the Ouachita Trail) at aid stations and road crossings, HAM radio help from Ouachita Amateur Radio Association, First Responders from Cove, Vandervoort, Joplin, & Sims fire departments, registration & finish line help from CASA (court appointed special advocates), and help from the Oden Woods & Water Club. We would also like to thank B&B Body Works for helping our knotty bodies!
Where do Ouachita Challenge proceeds go?
The Ouachita Cycling Club is a non profit club. Thanks to all our wonderful participants from last year, over $15,000 from the 2010 Ouachita Challenge helped these organizations:
Oden Woods & Water Club, CASA of the Ouachita Region, Ouachita Amateur Radio Association, FOOT (Friends of the Ouachita Trail), First Responders from Cove, Vandervoort, Joplin, & Sims fire departments, and Ouachita Cycling Club Trail maintenance fund.
REMINDER:
This event is held in a "dry county" (no alcohol sales). Also, the Oden Schools are a drug free environment. Please respect these rules.
